2015 में गूगल ने डिवेलपर्स के लिए बीटा 'क्रोम प्रोजेक्ट के लिए ऐप रनटाइम' लॉन्च किया था ताकि वे गूगल क्रोम ब्राउजर पर अपने ऐंड्रॉयड ऐप को टेस्ट कर सकें। गूगल ने एआरसी वेल्डर नाम से अपडेटेड रनटाइम और एक्सपेंडेड ऐप सपॉर्ट के साथ एक दूसरा टूल भी लॉन्च किया था। यह एक तरह की सैंडबॉक्सिंग टेक्नॉलजी है जिसके जरिए क्रोम प्लगइंस में ऐप अपने नेटिव इंटरफेस और स्पीड के साथ चलते हैं।
